The Climate
on Anna Maria Island is subtropical. The average humidity is 75%. Usually there aren’t long-lasting rain periods. The annual average temperature is 72 degrees. The coldest part of the year is in January/February with around 66 degrees. August is the warmest month (84 degrees).
The Island
Anna Maria Island is a seven-and-a-half miles Barrier Island with awesome white sandy beaches, gently curving along the unbelievably blue waters of the Gulf of Mexico. Pelicans and seagulls wheel and dive against azure skies. Sea turtles come every season to lay their eggs into these sugar-white sand beaches. Dolphins and Manatees live in the green-blue clear waters surrounding this Island.
Anna Maria Island has a lifestyle flavored with “ Old-Florida“ atmosphere – it is called Florida´s finest „undiscovered“ Island. Relax!
Boats
If motorboat or sailing yacht – you can select from a great variety of offers. You´ll find guided tours and boat rentals on the Island as well as at the mainland. Discover and have fun!.
Canoe, Paddleboards, Kitesurfing
The beautiful backwater canals are perfect for canoe or paddleboard tours. Anna Maria has several spots where you can rent equipment and book courses. Depending on the wind, the sea of the gulf or the bay side offers one calm and one wavy side – perfect for water sports.
Fishing
There are several fishing spots on the Island, like the City Pier or the Rod-and-Reel-Pier at the north end of AMI. You can buy fishing equipment in Holmes Beach at the harbor or in every bigger supermarket. There are also providers for deep sea fishing tours and daily charter-boat-tours. Enjoy!
Golf
is a very popular sport in Florida. In the nearby cities of Bradenton and Sarasota are around twenty-five golf facilities, some ranked among the best in the U.S. The Golf course in Longboat Key (10 miles down the Island) should be a very spectacular one, as our guests have recommended.
The green fees are affordable and equipment can be rented everywhere.
Tennis
There are several public courts in Anna Maria and Holmes Beach, which you can use for free. Tennis enthusiasts and professionals practice at the courts of the famous and nearby International Tennis Academy “ Nick Bolletieri“ in Bradenton.
Trips
Sarasota and Tampa are the cultural centers of this part of the West Coast with theatres, museums, luxury shops and high-quality restaurants. Everything is almost around the corner (15 – 45 miles).
Due to the good location of the Island you can reach all Florida attractions such as Disney World, Sea World, Universal Studios, Kennedy Space Center / Cape Canaveral, the Everglades or Key West very easily by car.
